While I work on getting this blog going, I thought to post something without much explanation or context. I made this sketch while thinking about Khalidi’s Three Kinds of Social Kinds and Brian Epstein’s The Ant Trap. I don’t know if either of them will sign on to this, though, and I am not sure that I do. But it has been useful as a framework to think through the different ways in which we might use words like “dependency” when talking about social kinds and social rules, and how these interact.
